Dave O'Mara, Honorary Board Member of San Francisco nonprofit Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K) is proud to put together a charity race team to participate in the 2013 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.

As a late comer to endurance sports, in 2010, Dave successfully rode his bicycle across America and raised over $60k for (R.O.C.K) through his Following Claire Campaign. Keep in mind this was the first time even he had rode a bike since he was a kid cruising around on his BMX. Quite an accomplishment. The past couple years, Dave decided to further challenge himself by creating a team of individuals who participated in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon where they were able to raise thousands of dollars for R.O.C.K. This year he is back at it and is looking to put together a team of 10 individuals ready to take the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon challenge by swimming 1.5 miles from Alcatraz Island to the shore, riding a bike 18 miles out to the Great Highway and through Golden Gate Park and running 8 miles through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area finishing at the Marina Green. In addition to the challenge of completing the race, all team members will be raising money ($2,000 committement) and awareness for R.O.C.K. and hope to bring in over $20,000.
